Learning is always synonymous with school, but not always. Believe it or not, video games, which are a hobby that unites us all, also often require an intensive learning process. That many games require you to master one particular mechanic without a clear tutorial system before you can end up finishing it. That this learning process will take time, going through a lot of trial and error, before you can call yourself “mastered”.
So, of all the games that have been released in the gaming industry, which games do we think are as complex as a test? Here is our version:
Flight Simulator
Okay, this one option might be enough to spark a little pros and cons in you. Does Flight Simulator deserve to be called a video game or not? If you refer to the level of interactivity it offers, this game can still be called a video game, even with a relatively massive fan base. Unlike the “airplane” games in general, which usually allow you to control an airplane as easily as controlling a car, especially if it includes a battle session in it, Flight Simulator takes the word “Simulator” very seriously. It really tries to represent what you will find when you try to fly a real plane. Dozens of buttons and instructions that can be summarized in a separate book are what you need to “enjoy” this one game.
Dark Souls
In general, Souls Series – the taste of a typical RPG action game concocted by From Software and Bandai Namco, has to be admitted, is one of the hardest games on the market today. So difficult that even one small mistake can end up dying and repeating the process from the last checkpoint. What makes this game interesting is that the thrill it offers is actually no different from taking a final exam, especially subjects you are not very good at. Every time the eye looks at a different problem, then you have to face new challenges. Vigilance and caution in “stepping” is also the key to Dark Souls itself. You can’t just go in and swing your sword at will and hope to win just like that. He needs strategy, he needs to be mastered mechanically, he needs strategy and patience to be subdued, like the Final Exam.
Kerbal Space Program
Launching a spaceship alone is difficult. Imagine what it would take to make it land on the moon and come back if needed. This kind of challenge is offered by the Kerbal Space Program. Although it does not represent an actual law of physics, the Kerbal Space Program is praised for its ability to inject an orbital mechanic that is representative of conditions in the real world. There are so many things that will end up falling apart, death, and failure if you don’t really think through what to do to get there.
Skyrim
Skyrim? You may be a little confused by the choices we include here. Compared to RPG games out there, Skyrim is arguably not too difficult and easy to complete. However, in the eyes of newcomers, an RPG game concocted by Bethesda like this could end up being something that needs more mastery. You need to learn more about the true essence of RPG, because unlike other RPG games, Skyrim offers almost absolute freedom, especially from your interaction with each NPC you. You can kill almost anyone, you can explore so many corners of the world without needing to continue the main story line at all, you also have to deal with a unique leveling system that will increase with the frequency of your usage. Strengthened by the fact that there isn’t one definitive character here where you can create as free a character as you want, Skyrim will make linear RPG fans learn the ropes again.
Brigandine
Those of you who enjoyed the first Playstation in the past, don’t seem to forget this super cool strategy game. Brigandine makes battles between many nations that not only involve humans, but also so many giant monsters with different attack abilities. The point is simple, capture as much area as possible and simultaneously defend the area you have. The bad news? The area represented by these small castles also needed protection because they would be easily captured if not completely protected. The next task is to distribute your troops in small numbers to protect large areas, prioritizing what you can and cannot protect, while trying to keep expanding your territory. The concept doesn’t sound unique, but Brigandine is still a game that needs careful planning to complete. Honestly, we ourselves never once managed to finish this game. In a way, it’s more complicated than the Final Exams.
The Last Remnant
A Japanese JRPG game? You may be surprised by our selection. It is common knowledge that JRPGs often end up as RPG games with linear storylines that are not too difficult to master, apart from some franchises that might inject extra puzzles to solve. But for us personally, there isn’t a JRPG game out there that is as complicated and as bad as Square Enix’s The Last Remnant which is also available with PC. There is no clear tutorial and notification that your character leveling system will also affect the level of the enemy you face. Those of you who are happy with the leveling process will actually be more easily destroyed with enemies whose skill designs are counted unbalanced. Worse yet? They also never give a clear clue that there is a possibility that one of the core characters that you have relied on from the start, ends up permanently dead. The Last Remnant is the type of final exam you feel like tearing up in front of the superintendent teacher.
Arma
It is almost impossible for an action game to make it into this list, except for those who call themselves “simulators” and prove this very well. For this genre, Arma seems to be in the highest position. Unlike games like Call of Duty and Battlefield which allow you to blindly and act as a war hero in an instant, Arma is a simulation where gun recoil, shooting range, and wind can play a role in determining the direction of your bullets. Still not complicated? It is also “armed” with one of the most complex user-interface games on the market. Even to do minimalist things such as arranging items like what you carry, you need certain mastery.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Those of you who have tasted this game series in the past will know what kind of appeal it offers and will fall in love at first sight if you really love complex games. Unlike Dynasty Warriors, which simply asks you to play the character Sam Kok who looks like a superhero who easily slaughtered thousands of soldiers at once, Romance of Three Kingdoms simulates the strategy that has become the attraction of this legend in the past. Building the area, troops, conquering the surrounding area, diplomacy and trying to expand influence as effectively as possible are the main tasks. What’s cool again? Not only from the outside, mistakes in ruling can trigger people’s displeasure and rebellion, starvation if the harvest season ends with a prolonged dry season, to political marriages to control areas that you might not be able to conquer with just brute force. All those things that are ready to put you face to face with a computer screen for a very long time.
Europa Universalis
How many of you are excited about games like Civilization? Where there are so many ways to achieve victory, diplomatic gameplay is quite obvious, and a variety of resources that must be managed every round. The type of game that will probably spend you hours with minimal progress. But for those who are looking for a higher level of complexity, there is another game called Europa Universalis which, as the name suggests, makes Europe a “playground”. But in contrast to Civilization which feels “lighter”, Europa Universalis offers a system that requires more complex strategies to control the land with military power, diplomacy or wealth. There is more data to look at, there are many elements to look at. Europa Universalis has always been praised for the depth of gameplay it offers in each series.
EVE Online
The title of this one game is not only arguably “just as complicated” but also more complicated than the Final Exam itself. That’s right, we’re talking about Eve Online. For readers of game news, Eve Online is always on the surface whenever a factional war that can involve thousands of spacecraft of various sizes tries to destroy one another, followed by reports of losses based on real-world money as a consequence of this. . But if you read a little deeper, you will know that this MMORPG is much more complicated than any game you can play right now. Gamers are given the freedom to determine roles, build their own alliances, and even build trade alliances with an economic system similar to the real world. What’s cool again? Politics between these factions exists even more than Eve Online itself. It is not uncommon for faction leaders to meet in the real world to resolve conflicts between their factions. How complex? Enough to make the so-called “company spy” also exist on Eve Online to outwit and supply information about opposing factions. It’s that complex.
The above are 10 games which in our opinion can be called as complicated or even more complicated than the Final Exam. This article is of course not designed to encourage you to view these exams as a “game,” but to make you understand that like video games, they are really no different from the games you complete. A “game” that has its own standards to solve, with a clear strategy that must be mastered, decorated with a learning process with a little trial and error in the past, and a strong mentality to overcome doubts in yourself. If you can finish a game like Dark Souls and remember the movements of each enemy and anticipate what they can and cannot do, then this enemy called “Final Exam” shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.
